Operations Manager, MoGo – Detroit

Reports to: General Manager | SHIFT Transit

Shift Transit is a leader in North American urban bicycle share program development and operations. Shift Transit, with its partner PBSC Urban Solutions, has years of experience planning, implementing, and operating bicycle share programs across North America. Through careful planning and collaboration with our clients in each city, we take pride in delivering an excellent experience to both our riders and our clients.

As the operator of MoGo, Shift Transit provides 430 bikes and 43 stations for Detroit’s first public bike share system – MoGo! MoGo provides short-term bike rental through a network of wireless, solar-powered kiosks located throughout greater Downtown Detroit.

 

Shift Transit is looking for a skilled operational leader who can take the day-to-day reigns of the MoGo operations. This individual, as a member of the MoGo leadership team, will work closely with the General Manager, our partners at the Downtown Detroit Partnership as well as the Director of Operations, SHIFT Transit.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills. They must be able to demonstrate their ability to successfully influence, mentor, and lead a team with poise and a positive attitude. The Operations Manager of MoGo will guide and oversee our team on the ground, providing superior customer satisfaction while navigating the challenges of a large scale logistical operation.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of MoGo Detroit.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously to completion.
  • Deliver world-class customer experience to Detroit riders through behind-the-scenes operational excellence.
  • Work closely with MoGo GM to hire, train, and empower staff.
  • Direct and provide operational requirements by scheduling and assigning staff, closely monitoring daily work results, and managing employee performance.
  • Identify current and future operational trends; react quickly and appropriately to ensure excellent customer experiences.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives as well as the development and implementation of related training requirements to support such initiatives. (ex. station software, website improvement, and operational tracking).
  • Work closely managing multiple partners to ensure flawless program execution.
  • Ensure program compliance with all legal, contractual and safety requirements.
  • Create and document operational best practices.
  • Assist in creating monthly and ad-hoc reports for the client.

 

Required Skills and Experience

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience managing a team in a pressurized environment; relevant operational experience related to the role will be required.
  • Proven technical skill set with the ability train employees and speak to all areas of the business operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common technological business tools
  • Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Candidate is organized and systematic with managing their workload.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions outside, year-round.
  • Availability to work nights, weekend and/or holidays.
  • This position may require some limited travel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

 

Additional Information

 

All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities due to the nature of work performed to accomplish Shift Transit key performance indicators.

 

Employees who perform safety-sensitive functions will submit to drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulatory requirements.
